One disadvantage would be that a huge blob can camp a gate, and you lack the ability to bring in a bigger blob to deal with it. This gives campers a numbers advantage that can't easily be mitigated, and time delays would give them all the warning ...

It has to do with standard NPC resists. Angels naturally resist EM and therm, and for the poor Amarr, that is primarily what they dish out. Other races don't have the problem of being restricted to two damage types, and often get bonuses to damage...

Buffer tank keeps you alive the longest, and requires minimal oversight. Shields recharge automatically, and if you do survive a battle you can probably dock up to repair shields. The booster can also repair your shields, but it won't do you much...

The problem with being a good sniper in PvP is that your enemy can just warp away. This makes sniping solo nearly impossible, you would have to alpha strike targets. Since you must be close to point someone, most people PvPing will expect to fight...

The only time that ungrouping gives you any sort of advantage is if there are wasted missiles in a volley. So, if it only takes 3/7 missiles to kill something, firing all 7 at it is a waste.

This is not true when it comes to missiles and your enemy is using defenders. This applies mostly to PvE, but when grouped, missiles only face 1 defender at most. If you fire them individually, each missile has a chance to run into a defender.
